merry christmas to me.
a few notes on my '05 winter break, so far.(excluded for ryan's sake are countless hours of downtime devoted to watching "laguna beach" re-runs. when will i learn, i know.)
1. tomorrow i leave for seattle for a few days. i'm pretty excited to see everyone and catch up. more on this note later.
2. cruising through "the truth about diamonds" by nicole richie and moving quickly on to heart-wrenching "middlesex" by jeffrey eugenides. the latter is an outstanding, captivating book that weaves a tale of the american dream centered around a greek hermaphrodite (gasp). eugenides is an absolutely stunning writer and unfortunately because of this, the book goes by to fast. regarding the former- i know what you are thinking and i don't care. . . and if anyone happens to own the paris hilton story- I AM VERY INTERESTED!
3. i went skiing with my family in park city, utah. it was hands down the best skiing i have ever done in my life. ironically enough, they hadn't had snow in about a month and a storm was rolling in as we took off. even so, it was awesome.
4. christmas eve was spent in salt lake city, watching ballet west's rendition of "the nutcracker," touring downtown and the mormon temple. the highlight? stumbling across the boardgame, settling zion, at a quaint little bookstore. i haven't played it yet- i'm saving it for a game night in austin. comes with divine intervention cards and everything.
5. along with a lot of other nice gifts from my family, my sister got me this really cute parcel purse. i don't mean to brag about material stuff- i just thought that it was extremely neat of her to get me something like that. oh. . . and my brother bought me "kids in the hall: season 1" on dvd. my siblings are pretty cool like that.
